Grasp Netball
Magazine
History
Grasp Netball Magazine
was founded in 1999. It was published by Images & Visual Solutions
and printed by longstanding printing firm, Foot & Playsted Pty Ltd
in Launceston. The first issue was sixteen pages and covered the TGIO
League which had been successfully run by the Southern Tasmanian Netball
Association in Hobart.
It was not long
after publishing the first issue of 'Grasp', that Images & Visual
Solutions relocated to Hobart to make the most of corporate opportunities.
In the following
year, 'Grasp' continued to grow and attracted more interest as the magazine
was circulated to more members.Taking this all into account, 'Grasp' was
at an important stage and consolidated its progress, to become a fully
statewide magazine.
By the third Issue,
it was decided to distribute 'Grasp' statewide and this was very well
received by the netball community, and members of the Tasmanian Netball
Association. During the first three years, advertisers were keen to advertise
in the magazine and to receive the increased exposure for their products
and services. By the fifth issue 'Grasp' was produced twice yearly creating
a reliable netball source for the eager public.
Scope for another
issue was certainly there, as the sport continued to grow as netball developed
nationally and locally
'Grasp' continued
a healthy growth period and so the need for more pages was evident, to
allow for mor vital content. At one stage 'Grasp' grew to fifty two pages
then fifty six pages and did not look back.
In 2008, 'Grasp'
was still distributed statewide but as it became more well known on the
national scene, other States and International countries were eager to
obtain copies of 'Grasp'.Copies continued to be circulated to the market
place, Government and Non Government schools. Government Departments,
National Life Members, Tasmanian Life Members, Sports Centres, Libraries
and by subscription.
Over the years
the magazine has attracted corporate, national, local and international
advertisers. It is the only 'boutique' netball magazine in Australia and
during its time of production, the growth rate was outstanding with continued
enquiries for more editorial content and advertising space. It was also
eagerly sort after by printing firms in both Hobart and Melbourne.
